ABOUT CBT

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. CBT is based on the understanding that your thoughts, feelings and behaviours are all linked, and that negative or unhelpful ways of thinking or behaving trap you in a vicious cycle. Dealing with overwhelming problems by breaking them down into more manageable parts to improve the way you feel is a practical, evidence based way to improve your state of mind. The Royal College of psychiatrists recommends CBT as one of the most effective treatments for anxiety and depression, being as effective as antidepressants for many.

CBT has been shown to be effective in treating a number of mental health conditions in addition to anxiety and depression, including, but not limited to, self harm, phobias, panic disorder, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), eating disorders and addictions.

With over 20 years experience facilitating development and change in others, Lyn is accredited in the fields of life, career and performance development coaching. She is also a certified trainer, facilitator and mediator, educated to post graduate level, specifically in psychology and CBT. Working together, you will identify and analyse your problem areas, understand how they originated and the patterns of thinking and behaving which enable their maintenance, before formulating a step by step action plan to successfully effect positive and long lasting change. You will receive confidential help and support and learn how to apply these new skills in future to stop them negatively impacting your life once therapy has ended.
